TERRA BELLA, Calif.--Dateland Vineyards, also known as Pavich Family Farms, filed a voluntary petition for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Oct. 4 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Eastern District of California in Fresno. Chapter 11 is the reorganization chapter available to businesses that have sufficient assets and income to restructure and repay their debts. Under Chapter 11, creditors vote to accept or reject a reorganization plan, which also must be approved by the court.

The case has been assigned to Judge Brett Dorian in Fresno, and the first meeting of creditors is scheduled for Nov. 13, 2000. John Eleazarian, a Fresno attorney, is representing Pavich in this case. At press time, calls to Pavich for comment had not been returned.
