The legislation would change how companies bring ingredients to market, mandating FDA vet all new ingredients rather than take the GRAS route. “GRAS self-affirmations are based on rigorous, expert reviews of evidence, and the hope is always that legislation is based on the same,” said attorney Ivan Wasserman of Amin Wasserman Gurnani. Curcumin extract diabetes trial yields promising results – research
In a year-long randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study of 200 subjects, curcumin extract improved insulin function and helped moderately obese patients with type 2 diabetes lose weight. Researchers concluded curcumin “shows a significant glucose-lowering effect.” The research, published in Nutrition Journal, was conducted with an ethanolic extract of turmeric rhizomes from Thailand.
