PURCHASE, N.Y.Nutrition 21Inc. applauded the inclusion of language in the Congressional appropriationsbill that recognizes chromium picolinate can restore normal glucosemetabolism by enhancing insulin sensitivity and encourages the NationalCenter for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) to expand its chromiumresearch program.

In additional government news, the United Kingdoms FoodStandards Agency (FSA) revised its position on the safety of chromiumpicolinate, noting there is no need to avoid chromium picolinate.The U.K.Committee on Mutagenicity (COM) conducted a year-long scientific review of thesafety of chromium picolinate, including duplication of two toxicology teststhat suggested the ingredient could cause genetic damage; the new tests found nosuch association.
