SupplySide West will feature more than 130 exhibiting companies from China as part of the largest ever delegation organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products (CCCMHPIE, or China Chamber of Commerce). SupplySide and CCCMHPIE have been partnering for 25 years, and as part of this anniversary, I am pleased to share the following interview.

SupplySide Supplement Journal: What is the history, size and membership of the China Chamber of Commerce?

CCCMHPIE: Founded in May 1989, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products (CCCMHPIE) is the national industrial association in China devoted to promoting international trade and investment in the healthcare sector. CCCMHPIE has a diverse membership of over 2,800 companies, including the major R&D facilities, manufacturers, trading companies and investment institutions in China. Our members have interests in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and equipment, biopharmaceuticals, traditional Chinese medicines, nutraceuticals, functional cosmetics, and foods for special medical purposes. It is a professional trade and investment promotion organization in the Chinese healthcare sector serving as the bridge between authorities and enterprises as well as Chinese and foreign partners.

SupplySide Supplement Journal: What are biggest goals for the China Chamber of Commerce?

CCCMHPIE: Our motto is service-prioritized and credibility-oriented. We are devoted to serving the entire industry chain and promoting international trade and investment in the healthcare sector.

SupplySide Supplement Journal: How has the China Chamber of Commerce grown and evolved over the last 25 years?

CCCMHPIE: As the industry evolves, we serve the healthcare industry ranging from major divisions of pharmaceuticals, traditional Chinese medicines, and medical devices and equipment to specialized fields, such as biopharmaceuticals, functional cosmetics, foods for special medical purposes, medical dressing and massage devices.

SupplySide Supplement Journal: How have you seen the industry and market evolve/change over these 25 years?

CCCMHPIE: We have witnessed increasingly close international exchanges and cooperation, more vibrant investment and trade, more balanced imports and exports, and a continually strengthening vitality for innovation.

SupplySide Supplement Journal: What has partnering with SupplySide for these 25 years meant for the China Chamber of Commerce and the companies that work with you?

CCCMHPIE: SupplySide is one of the most important platforms in global health and nutrition industry. Chinese enterprises and their international counterparts have evolved from mere trade interactions to comprehensive exchanges encompassing investment, trade and technological cooperation. This significant shift has greatly facilitated the Chinese health industry's participation in the international division of labor systems, enhancing its own capabilities and standards, while contributing Chinese wisdom and strength to the health and well-being of people worldwide.

SupplySide Supplement Journal: Can you share a couple of success stories from your companies as examples?

CCCMHPIE: Layn Natural Ingredients, founded in 1995 and exhibiting at SupplySide shows since the early 2000s, has evolved into one of the top manufacturers of plant-based ingredients, specializing in sweeteners and natural flavors over the past two decades. SupplySide shows serve as an irreplaceable platform that brings together health industry professionals, significantly aiding them in exploring the North American market. They regard SupplySide shows as the premier venue for launching new products and engaging with their key accounts.
