MANCHESTER, Mich.—Amcor PET Packaging announces several new size additions to its stock heat-set polyethylene terephthalate (PET) line. The new sizes are a panel-less, rectangular gallon; and single-serve 500-ml, 12- and 10-oz. bottles. According to Amcor (www.amcor.com), the rectangular gallon is the first stock PET heat-set container in this size offered to the U.S. market, and offers improved cube efficiency and a pinch-grip feature. The smaller 10- and 12-oz. sizes feature a lighter weight, patented five-panel design as an alternative to traditional six-panel stock bottles; the design minimizes “ovalization” that can occur when a hot-fill, six-panel bottle is cooled and subjected to vacuum effects. Finally, the 500-ml bottle fits a niche in the functional water industry.
