DSMs PeptoPro® Added to PowerBars ISOMAX

PowerBars ISOMAX  is a new high-performance isotonic beverage powder that contains functional ingredients including DSMs PeptoPro ®,a unique mix of five electrolytes, caffeine and C2MAX, a carbohydrate blend designed for maximum energy delivery. According to DSM, the inclusion of PeptoPro® facilitates efficient amino acid delivery during intense physical exercise, when the bodys digestive capacity is heavily compromised.

PeptoPro, a dairy-derived protein, works under the concept that its amino acids, which do not require further digestion and can be delivered straight to the muscles, protect muscles during exercise and kick-starts the recovery process. Sufficient amino acid intake is important after exercise as there is a limited timeframe, known as the post-exercise window of opportunity, before the muscle cells capacity for nutrient absorption slows down, according to DSM.

PeptoPro works in synergy with carbohydrate to repair muscles and help replenish glycogen stores by boosting post-exercise insulin levels. In trials, DSM said PeptoPro has been shown to improve endurance and performance, stimulate muscle growth, accelerate recovery and reduce muscle soreness.

A 2006 unpublished study showed cyclists who consumed beverages enriched with PeptoPro during time trials clocked faster times and had reduced muscle soreness post-race compared with those drinking traditional, carbohydrate-only sports drinks.

PeptoPro is soluble in cold water and is available in forms suitable for use in a variety of sports nutrition products.
