Morristown, N.J.—Hector Lopez, M.D., CSCS, FAAPMR, principal and co-founder, the Center for Applied Health Sciences LLC and Supplement Safety Solutions LLC, joined the growing number of experts presenting as part of the OmniActive Insights™ program at SupplySide West 2014 in Las Vegas.

Lopez will host a VendorBrief seminar entitled "Capsaicinoids: Not Just A Hot Trend," which will focus on the latest science and mechanism of action of capsaicinoids, the bioactive compounds of capsicum (aka hot red peppers). The session will be held on the show floor at booth 39089 on Wednesday, October 8, from 2:30 to 2:55 p.m.

“Research surrounding capsaicinoids support their tremendous potential in the weight management and sports nutrition markets, and science points to their benefits for healthy lifestyle, too," said Lynda Doyle, vice presidents of global marketing, OmniActive.

Capsicum has been in the human diet for thousands of years, and capsaicinoids have been studied in more than 90 human clinical trials across numerous populations. They have been shown to help promote lipolysis, as well as support thermogenesis.

In addition, the Natural Products INSIDER Education Track includes a presentation by James M. Stringham entitled “The Three Macular Carotenoids: Complementary Functions of Lutein, RR-Zeaxanthin and Meso-Zeaxanthin," which will take place on October 7 from 4 to 4:50 p.m. at Mandalay Bay South Convention Center, Level 3, in room Jasmine A.
