Lonza'sL-Carnipure® May Reduce Recovery Time

BASEL, Switzerland--In a company-sponsored clinical trial that was presented at the Experimental Biology Meeting April 4,L-carnitine supplementation may have significantly benefited "weekend warriors" recovering from high intensity exercise. William Kraemer, lead researcher from Ball State University, found that improving recovery time affects how quickly a person can return to optimum performance. In a placebo-controlled, cross-over study, 10 active, healthy men took either a placebo orL-Carnipure® L-carnitine L-tartrate (equivalent to two grams ofL-carnitine) for a three-week period preceding controlled, high intensity exercise. The results showed that the supplement was "effective in assisting recovery, allowing for less tissue damage, decreased production of free radicals and significantly less muscle soreness following the exercise," Kraemer reported. The study was sponsored by the Lonza Group, which also provided the product. For more information, visit www.carnitine.com or booth #1616 at SupplySide East.
