ANN ARBOR, Mich.NSF International launched NSFSport.com, a website for athletes available in both Spanish and English. The redesigned site makes it easier for athletes and coaches to find sport supplements and nutritional products that have been screened for steroids and other athletic banned substances via the NSF Certified for Sport® program.

Sports nutrition products certified by NSF appear on NSFSport.com listed by brand name with key product information, company and the logo prominently featured. In addition to highlighting NSF-certified products, NSFSport.com contains performance training tips, lists prohibited substances, and features a dietary supplement fact kit with information on how to understand product labels and claims. Twitter updates on recent news stories on doping in sports and other timely events also are available on the site.

News stories on steroid use in sports underscore the need for more screening of dietary supplements and sports nutrition products for banned substances," said Edward Wyszumiala, general manager of NSF Internationals Dietary Supplement Certification Programs. NSFsport.com helps athletes and coaches identify NSF Certified products that have been tested for steroids and other prohibited substances so they can be confident that the products they purchase will not result in accidental doping,"

NSF Internationals Certified for Sport® program tests and certifies nutritional supplements used by athletes in Major League Baseball (MLB), National Football League (NFL), Professional Golf Association (PGA), Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES). The certification process requires testing to ensure nutritional products are free of athletic banned substances and unsafe levels of contaminants, a toxicology and label review to verify product formulation and marketing claims, and an inspection of the facility at which the product is made. These requirements are in accordance with the NSF American National Standard for Dietary Supplements (NSF/ANSI 173). NSFs Certified for Sport® Program builds on this standard through additional screening for prohibited substances on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), NSF Annex A, NFL, MLB and NCAA prohibited substance lists.
