COSTA MESA, Calif.Alkemists Pharmaceuticals announced an alliance with Reading, Pa.-based Strategic Sourcing Inc. (SSI), under which SSIs raw materials will carry a certificate of authenticity from Alkemists. Edward J. Fletcher, chief operating officer (COO) of SSIs botanical division, said the alliance will provide additional assurance to its clients of the quality of its ingredients.

Alkemists also released the results of a random analysis of six brands of hoodia dietary supplements, finding no adulteration or contamination. The analysis was part of a voluntary program; participants included Hoodoba, Desert Burn, Hoodia Products, HoodiThin, HoodiTrim and HoodiSpray.

I am happy to report positive news about hoodia supplements in light of previous negative media reviews, said Elan Sudberg, COO and lab manager of Alkemists (www.Alkemist.com). The voluntary status enables those companies whose products are ready to be scrutinized under the microscope (literally) to showcase their quality, while the random analysis shows consumers that the product they are interested in purchasing comes from a company who has confidence in their products and will go the extra distance to prove it.
