Beflora Self-Affirmed GRAS

WAYNE, N.J.--Triarco Industries, distributor of a sweet prebiotic fiber called Beflora, announced the ingredient was self-affirmed GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe). Roxlor International, the manufacturer of Beflora and Beflora Plus, self-affirmed its prebiotic ingredient GRAS after reviewing literature, analytical tests, and manufacturing methods and procedures.

Beflora, which can be described as"oligofructose, fructose and sprouted mung bean extract," is derived from non-genetically modified beans. The active agent of Beflora is a non-digestible short-chain polymer that is a prebiotic to the beneficial bacteria (particularly bifidobacteria and lactobacillus) located in the large intestine, according to Triarco (www.triarco.com).
