MINNEAPOLISThe Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had no questions on the self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status filing for Suntheanine® from Taiyo (www.taiyo.com), making the L-theanine ingredient suitable for use in food and beverage products up to 250 mg per serving. FDAs confirmation paves the way for Suntheanine to be used in a wide range of food and beverages, including juices, teas, sports beverages, specialty bottled waters, confections and candies, said Scott Smith, vice president, Taiyo International.
