ANN ARBOR, Mich.NSF Internationals new edition of its NSF/ANSI Standard 173 allows rapid testing procedures using the Soleris microbial test system from Neogen, following a study that verified equivalency between the Soleris protocol and traditional USP plate-counting methods when testing dietary supplements for contamination. NSFs microbiology lab will use the Soleris equipment to develop additional validation assays to detect microbial contamination.

Ed Bradley, vice president of food safety for Neogen (www.neogen.com), said: Including our rapid testing protocols in the NSF standard will allow more microbial testers to discover the obvious speed and significant labor-reducing benefits of the Soleris system over traditional methods.
