BUENOS AIRESEAS is hosting a workshop titled "Food SupplementsSecrets of successful regulatory strategies for launching products in Latin America and Europe" on July 12, 2012, in Buenos Aires. The one-day workshop will guide companies through the steps to be followed when launching food supplement products Latin America and Europe. A panel of EAS experts will explain legislation and practices in key markets, from ingredients to national approaches to rules for health claims and novel foods.

Highlights of the workshop:

  • Global trends for food supplements

  • Clarifying the national rules on food supplement composition in key Latin America markets

  • Exploring the Brazilian rules for the legal marketing of food supplements

  • Identifying what is harmonized and what is not across Europe

  • Europe Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation: practical impact for product marketing

  • Opportunities and challenges for marketing food supplements with claims in selected Latin American countries

In March, the Argentine National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Devices introduced guidelines on the assessment of health claims in food advertising, a move EAS Food Law Manager Elodie Lebastard said is an example of a growing trend toward the regulation of health claims in Latin America.
