Supplement use is at an all-time high—76 percent—among U.S. adults, and most (87 percent) are confident that supplements are safe, quality and efficacious, according to a recent survey commissioned by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) and conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs.

In this podcast, Nancy Weindruch, vice president, communications, CRN, dives deeper into the data of the survey, which has been conducted yearly for 18 years, with Sandy Almendarez, INSIDER editor in chief. They cover:

  • The most popular supplements among the general population and among younger consumers.

  • The top reasons Americans take supplements, and the emerging importance of supplements that help boost energy

  • The factors that American consumers weigh when they make supplement purchases.

This podcast was recorded at the CRN Annual Conference in Tucson, Arizona. Here the podcast Weindruch and Almendarez recorded following the release of the 2016 CRN consumer survey: Healthy INSIDER Podcast: Drivers for Supplement Use.
