EDISON, N.J.Carotech Inc. has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 6,596,306 for a novel bioenhanced tocotrienol complex that guarantees an increase in bioavailability of tocotrienols in the gastrointestinal tract. In a two-period, two-sequence crossover human bioavailability study with Tocomin® SupraBio System, results showed its tocotrienol was 200 to 300 percent more bioavailable compared to the conventional tocotrienol oil extract. Tocomin SupraBio System also promotes absorption of tocotrienol via the lymphatic system and ensures consistent and rapid transport of tocotrienols into the blood. With this system, products may be formulated at a much lower dosage and still attain therapeutic tocotrienol blood level, according to the company.
