HAVRE DE GRACE, Md.--Huber Engineered Materials, abusiness unit of the J.M. Huber Corp., released the results of independentperformance tests and sensory panels reviewing HuberCAL natural calciumcarbonate. West Coast Analytical Laboratory and 21st Sensory conducted thetests. Compared to other precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) sources, theyfound HuberCAL had greater than 99 percent purity compared to 97.2 percent inother PCC sources, and exhibited less gritty mouthfeel and residual grit. Also,compared to a ground calcium carbonate (GCC), HuberCAL had a significantly lowerlead content--88 ppb versus 159 ppb.
