WESTCHESTER,IllIngredion Inc. will introduce its whole-grain based WEIGHTAIN satiety ingredient, a weight-management system shown in clinical studies to suppress hunger, at SupplySide West in Las Vegas.

By suppressing the hunger urge, WEIGHTAIN is able to reduce calorie intake by about 50 to 100 calories a day.

This naturally based, gluten-free weight management solution will allow food manufacturers to create a range of on-trend weight management products that will assist with calorie reduction. The new product has been shown to work well in low-moisture baked goods including bars, soups and smoothies.

"According to research from Gallup's satiety survey and Ingredion proprietary research, more than 33 percent of American consumers are aware of the concept of satiety, and 45 to 55 percent are aware of the food and beverages that help them feel full for longer," said Lorraine Niba, global director of nutrition, Ingredion. "However, 22 percent of consumers look to whole grain-based products to help them satisfy their hunger. WEIGHTAIN satiety ingredient empowers food and supplement manufactures to give consumers a natural, clinically substantiated choice in calorie reduction."

WEIGHTAIN satiety ingredient contains three satiety mechanisms, including decreasing feelings of hunger, reducing calorie consumption and reducing hunger pangs.

The satiety effect of the WEIGHTAIN product has been shown in clinical studies to validate feelings of fullness of participants at 20 g per eating occasion. Clinical studies also support claims of sustained energy and hunger management with the WEIGHTAIN ingredient.
