Primex Acquires Vansons Chitosan Business

REYKJAVIK, Iceland, & REDMOND, Wash.--Primex ehf is acquiring the bulk chitosan operations of Vanson HaloSource Inc. The acquisition further strengthens Primexs position as the international leader in the chitosan market.

Under terms of the agreement, which went into effect May 3, Primex will purchase the inventory, patents, trademarks, product and application technology, and distribution channels for all bulk chitosan product ranges, including LipoSan Ultra dietary supplement ingredients. Financial terms were not disclosed.

We see the acquisition of Vansons chitosan operations as a rational step in the business relationship between the two companies, said Ulfar Steindorsson, Primexs chairman. Combined with our existing market position in both Europe and Asia, strengthening our position in the U.S. market makes Primex the leading supplier of chitosans globally.

One item that remains unchanged is the status of Wilke Resources, which will remain the exclusive agent for LipoSan Ultra in the United States.
