Primex Acquires Vansons Chitosan Business

REYKJAVIK, Iceland, & REDMOND, Wash.--Primex ehf is acquiring the bulkchitosan operations of Vanson HaloSource Inc. The acquisition furtherstrengthens Primexs position as the international leader in the chitosanmarket.

Under terms of the agreement, which went into effect May 3, Primex willpurchase the inventory, patents, trademarks, product and application technology,and distribution channels for all bulk chitosan product ranges, includingLipoSan Ultra dietary supplement ingredients. Financial terms were notdisclosed.

We see the acquisition of Vansons chitosan operations as a rationalstep in the business relationship between the two companies, said UlfarSteindorsson, Primexs chairman. Combined with our existing market positionin both Europe and Asia, strengthening our position in the U.S. market makesPrimex the leading supplier of chitosans globally.

One item that remains unchanged is the status of Wilke Resources, which willremain the exclusive agent for LipoSan Ultra in the United States.
