CanonCommunications Purchases Nutritional Outlook

LOSANGELES--Canon Communications, a privately-held trade magazine publisher andtrade show producer based here, has purchased Nutritional Outlookmagazine, the Nutritionals trade show and Cosmetic/Personal Care Packagingmagazine from Paoli, Pa.-based O&B properties; Canon purchased Pharmaceuticaland Medical Packaging News from O&B in 1996. The acquisition wasannounced Oct. 24. Neither Mike Bradley, president of O&B, or Mary Hoegy,spokesperson for Canon, would disclose a purchase price, or comment on whetherthe properties would be relocated to Los Angeles. There was also no comment onwhether the personnel would remain with the purchased properties.

O&Bwas not part of the acquisition, though it now holds no properties. Bradleystated that he is positive about the future of the magazines and show; Canonwill do a great job with these properties, he said. They are willing toinvest to bring them to a new level in this industry. In Canonsannouncement, William Cobert, president and chief executive officer of Canon,said the acquisitions provide an established platform for our high-visibilityentry and expansion into the advancing nutraceuticals manufacturing market now valued at $20 billion and growing rapidly.
