Klockner Divesting Non-Film Activities, May Be Acquired

GORDONSVILLE, Va.--Klockner Pentaplast of America, based here, the U.S.division of Klockner-Werke AG in Duisburg, Germany, announced plans in Novemberto concentrate on the company's global film business. It will divest itspackaging machinery, filling equipment and other interests in order to focus onits rigid film and sheet (vinyl, polyester, etc.) films used in a wide range ofpackaging and printing applications.

Further, the management board of WCM-Beteiligungs und Grundbesitz AG inFrankfurt announced it had acquired 40 percent of the outstanding shares ofKlockner-Werke and planned to make a purchase offer to all Klcknershareholders in December. According to Tom Goeke, president of KlcknerPentaplast of America, the management board was waiting to express its opinionof the possible acquisition until the details of the offer were made public.
