Among top beauty and personal care news, Croda launched a skin-smoothing ingredient, Clariant received Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Mass Balance (MB) certification for two production sites, and Lonza announced new talent in its hair technology division.
Croda launched Prolevis™, a new high molecular weight protein hydrolysate to instantly smooth the skin, visibly reducing the appearance of surface wrinkles and imperfections. According to Croda, up to 75 percent of consumers reported Prolevis gave them instantly smoother looking skin. The effectiveness of Prolevis is also supported by high-quality images taken using specialist VISIA® imaging equipment, which demonstrated that after one application, the ingredient imparted an instant visual reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Depending on the level of inclusion, Prolevis is able to deliver a range of functional anti-aging claims, including consumer-perceivable skin smoothing, tightening and firming.
In addition, Croda was awarded the Cosmetagora “Coup de Coeur" formulation award for 2016, organized by the French Cosmetic Society in Paris. The winning formulation was an ice cream emulsion, providing a unique appealing visual texture, a light and cooling sensation during application and prolonged skin hydration. Three additional companies were recognized for innovative formulations at Cosmetagora: IFF Lucas Cosmetics, SICAF and Arkema Innovative Chemistry.
Clariant obtained RSPO MB certification for its production sites in Tangerang (Indonesia) and Tarragona (Spain). With this latest certification, Clariant is now able to offer RSPO MB-certified palm-based ingredients to customers in the personal and home care industry from its relevant facilities in the Asia Pacific (APAC) and European regions. In total, four plants in APAC, two plants in Europe and joint venture global amines sites in Gendorf (Germany) and Lianyungang (China) have gained the mass balance certificate. Clariant is currently working to include North America (NORAM) and Latin America (LATAM) production sites in the scope of its RSPO MB certification—a process it is aiming to complete during the middle of 2016. Clariant also recently achieved Halal certification at its Tangerang site to address the emerging demand for Halal ingredients from customers in Southeast Asia.
