ChicagoIn 1880, Norwegian immigrant, Charles O. Sethness established a syrup and water flavor factory in Chicago to serve the burgeoning beverage industry. Business grew swiftly and, through the decades, the company led many technological changes and expanded globally.

One of our best-known flavor innovations is Green River, which was launched during the Prohibition era, said Patrick Kearney, President of Sethness Greenleaf. For many years, Green River was second only to Coca Cola in sales. To this day, we continue to produce the Green River flavor.

Today, Sethness Greenleaf is a global company with flavor expertise in not only beverage, but bakery, confectionery, and dairy product applications. Over 40,000 flavors have been developed by Sethness Greenleafs flavor chemists and chefs.
