Baier holds a Master of Science degree from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa. In 1997, he was hired by MTI Biotech as a research scientist with specific responsibilities related to overseeing outside research projects related to HMB (beta‐hydroxy‐beta‐methylbutyrate) and muscle performance and health, as well as work on marketing and sales of HMB to the sports nutrition and adult nutrition markets. In 2003, Baier accepted a position at Iowa State University Center for Designing Foods as an assistant to the director responsible for managing all research projects at the Center. In one project in particular, Baier was responsible for the administration of a year-long, NIH/NIA-funded research study investigating the benefits of an HMB-containing nutritional supplement on muscle mass and function in older adults. In 2007, Baier returned to MTI Biotech as director of sales and marketing, and in 2008, he was promoted to COO.
Brenda Fonseca

Brenda Fonseca is the global technical services lead for Kemin Human Nutrition and Health and has been with the company since 2014. Prior to joining Kemin, Brenda spent more than 20 years conducting research in the field of neuroscience in addition to serving as a college faculty member in the psychological sciences. She earned a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in behavioral neuroscience from the University of Iowa and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in nutritional neuroscience at National University. She has been published in numerous publications and has been an invited speaker at nutrition and neuroscience conferences across the globe.
Courtney Higginson

Originally from New Zealand, Courtney is degree-qualified in biological sciences and human nutrition. She gained her Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from the University of Auckland and her graduate diploma in science from Massey University, graduating with distinction in human nutrition. Courtney has experience working in health and life sciences industries across the world, particularly in the areas of food safety microbiology, clinical research and product development. She is passionate about nutrition and research and loves to analyze data.
