STAMFORD, Conn.--Westvaco Brand Security Inc.(WBS) has entered a licensing agreement with Digimarc Corp. that allows WBS (www.westvacobrandsecurity.com) to employ Digimarc's digital watermarking technology. Secure digital watermarks can be embedded on the exterior of consumer-product packaging that can be detected and read by reader software and hardware that is nearly imperceptible to the human eye. WBS will use the technology to further its BrandTheft Solutions™ portfolio, which is designed to protect brand-holders from counterfeiters.
