Tinofend® Analysis Shows Immune-Boosting Polysaccharides
November 9, 2011
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. Polysaccharides linked to immunosupportive properties were detected in significant and consistent quantities in Tinofend® (from Verdure Sciences) during Verdure Botanical Active Testing System (VBATS) analysis, according to the company. The total polysaccharide fraction from Tinofend, comprised of no less than 20-percent of the total extract, was measured and validated for sensitivity, specificity and precision using AOAC guidelines for single lab validation.
Natural products, especially botanicals, are subject to variation in composition," said Blake Ebersole, technical director of Verdure Sciences. "Therefore, standardization is of utmost importance to ensure consumers receive the same benefits found in clinical trials. This is why we have dedicated substantial time and resources to characterize botanical ingredients, and are continuously working toward developing and validating suitable analytical methods for their standardization."
Tinofend® extract, a key botanical extract derived from Tinospora cordifolia, is used to promote immune response. Verdure said recent randomized, placebo-controlled, clinical research on Tinofend indicated a clinical benefit on various immune-related endpoints in two weeks. Along with polysaccharides, Tinospora contains other immune-health ingredients such as echinacea, astragalus and medicinal mushrooms.
Tinofend® is manufactured in Verdure Sciences cGMP (current good manufacturing practice)-registered, botanicals-only facility, and adheres to international quality standards. Recently, Verdure relaunched its website.
