ALBUQUERQUE--Sud-Chemie Performance Packaging, a division of UnitedCatalysts Inc., introduced new technology to improve production for desiccantcanisters. Three high-capacity filling lines have been introduced at thecompany's Belen, N.M., production plant, enabling cost-effective, high-speedproduction of canisters. Each filling line incorporates three quality control"vision systems," which guarantee inspection of every canister. Up to1,000 one-gram printed canisters can be produced per minute, and every 20seconds, a random sample of canisters is automatically weighted, data points arecollected, and fill weights are adjusted automatically to correct for minutechanges in weight trend.
