Albion, InterHealth, Others Receive Honor, Recognition

Albion, Inclusion Technologies, Enzymotec and InterHealth Nutraceuticals received honors, certifications and approvals in recent weeks, showcasing their prestige in the industry.

Albion Laboratories was selected as the sole company from Utah in the report “United States of Trade: 50 Stories in 50 States that Show the Impact of Trade Across the Nation." The report is a joint project of the Office of U.S Trade Representative and the Department of Commerce. It details the success of small businesses in the United States with access to global markets, and it includes success stories from businesses in all 50 states that are using exports to expand their businesses and support well-playing American jobs. The case studies included in “The United States Trade" illustrate how access to global markets can benefit small businesses across the United States. Albion was honored to represent Utah, and the company was also visited by President Barack Obama, who met with Albion’s president DeWayne Ashmead.

Inclusion Technologies also received an honor through a SQF Level 3 Certification by the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI), a food safety and quality program. Level 3 is the program’s most stringent and highest level certification awarded.

In addition, Enzymotec obtained Novel Food approval from the European Commission (EC) for its high-potency grade of K·Real® krill oil. The approval allows for high grades of K·Real krill oil to be used in a wide selection of foods and beverages in Europe; it can also be labeled with additional health claims beyond the standard heart health-related claims. Enzymotec can now offer EU-approved high grades of krill oil solutions that include the following health claims on their labels: “Contributes to the normal function of the heart," “contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function," and “contributes to the maintenance of normal vision."

InterHealth gained approval from ANVISA, the National Health Surveillance agency, for its undenatured type 2 collagen ingredient UC-II®. The ingredient is now approved for sale in finished products in Brazil. It was approved based on safety, efficacy and demonstration of test methodologies. Companies must be in compliance with Brazilian regulations set forth by ANVISA before they can legally sell their products.
