German Ministry Finds Nandrolone in Creatine Supplement

HAMBURG, Germany--According to the agricultural ministry in the German stateof Baden-Wuerttenberg, the banned anabolic steroid nandrolone has been found inan unnamed German creatine supplement. However, a chemist from the ministry saidthat further tests needed to be conducted on the creatine products to determinewhether it was the result of contamination or a deliberate act. This comes aftera University of California (UCLA) study found that more than half of theathletes who participated and consumed creatine supplements had nandrolone intheir urine.

However, in a study conducted at the U.K. Aberdeen University, scientistsfound that dietary supplements, which may not contain prohibited substances, combined with vigorous exercise may cause a high concentration of nandrolonemetabolites in body fluids. For more information, visit www.iaaf.org.
