CFSAN Reports FY03 Accomplishments
ROCKVILLE, Md.--The Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition(CFSAN) reported that for fiscal 2003 (FY03), it accomplished more prioritiescompared to previous years. Among the 138 priorities that were completed includeestablishing a proposed rule for food facility registration, a proposed rule forprior notification for imports, procedures for creating a framework to reviewqualified health claim petitions and last, but not least, a proposed rule forGood Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
CFSAN priorities that were not accomplished and carried into FY04 includedeveloping an enforcement strategy for ensuring dietary supplements, when addedinto conventional foods, are lawful, and publishing a final rule for a healthclaim for stanol/sterol esters.
