BETHESDA, Md. & LANSING, Mich.--In late March, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported certain lots of Carrollton, Texas-based Aloe Commodities International Inc.s Solutions IE Ageless Formula II were recalled because they contained significantly higher than labeled levels of vitamin D3 (approximately 188,640 IU of the vitamin was in each serving size instead of the intended level of 400 IU per serving). The aging formula, which is distributed by Orem, Utah-based Solutions International Inc., was recalled after a manufacturing error was reported; the action affected lot numbers P2207 and P2221for 750 mg capsules available in 180-count bottles. Solutions International reported it received three complaints in March of customers hospitalized for vitamin D toxicity with hypercalcemia, a condition that, if prolonged, can result in hypertension and heart rhythm abnormalities.
