According to an Associated Press article, on Dec. 13 the U.S.Supreme Court announced it would hear arguments as to whether foreign businessdisputes can be settled in U.S. courts. In particular, the court will decide howfarreaching antitrust laws are in relation to anticompetitive prices; the issueat hand is the vitamin price-fixing suit levied against companies such asBASF and Roche. ... Researchers out of Queens University in Kingston,Ontario, were awarded $8 million in grants from the U.S. National Institutes ofHealth (NIH) to examine natural remedies for prostate and bladder diseases.... The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a guidance document entitledCosmetics Processors and Transporters: Cosmetics Security PreventiveMeasures Guidance. It is designed to identify the kinds of preventivemeasures to take to ward against malicious, criminal or terrorist actions. ...Euremica Environmental Ltd. asked the U.K. Food Standards Agency (FSA) toapprove clinoptilolite to be marketed as a supplement. Clinoptilolite isconverted from volcanic ash and is currently used for purifying drinking waterand as an additive in animal feed.
