Levitt, Taylor Leave CFSAN

ROCKVILLE, Md.Two Food andDrug Administration (FDA) honchos are leaving the agency: Joseph A. Levitt,Esq., director of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), andChristine Taylor, Ph.D., director of CFSANs Office of Nutritional Products,Labeling and Dietary Supplements.

Levitt is retiring to become a partner at Hogan & HartsonLLP. At the firm, he will work with clients regarding food, medical devices,drugs, supplements and other areas regulated by FDA. Robert E. Brackett, Ph.D.,was named Levitts successor. Previously, Brackett oversaw food safety andsecurity at CFSAN (http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/list.html).

Taylor is leaving CFSAN to accept a two-year assignmentheading up a special project on nutrition issues for the World HealthOrganization (WHO), where she will help assess food-related health risks for theworlds nations. CFSAN planned to name Taylors successor before she left onJan. 18.
