Maypros Oligonol OKd as NDI

PURCHASE, N.Y.—Maypro announced in mid-June that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) accepted its New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) notification for its patented ingredient Oligonol™. FDA accepted the notification in writing and without comment, making the product OK for marketing in the United States. Oligonol was developed by Amino Up Chemical Co. in Sapporo, Japan, and consists of oligomerized polyphenols from lychee fruit. Maypro (www.maypro.com) will serve as the U.S. marketer and distributor; its subsidiary, Quality of Life, will offer the first finished, branded product with the ingredient at retail.
