NSF, OTA Collaborating on Organic Personal Care Standard

ANN ARBOR, Mich.NSFInternational will collaborate with the Organic Trade Association (OTA) onefforts to develop an organic personal care standard. Numerous OTA membercompanies have renewed calls to the association and the U.S. Department ofAgriculture, which oversees the National Organic Program (NOP), to set standardsto assure customers about the integrity of personal care products labeled as organic.

OTA made a strategic decision to collaborate with NSFInternational because NSFs consensus standards development process isaccredited by the highly reputable American National Standards Institute (ANSI),said Katherine DiMatteo, executive director of OTA (www.ota.com). Standardsaccredited by ANSI are historically recognized and referenced by federalagencies.
