Nutrition 21, FTC Discuss QVC Suit

PURCHASE, N.Y.Nutrition 21announced it is in discussion with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regardingwhether Nutrition 21 is liable for weight loss advertising claims for its LiteBites products made on QVC Inc. In late March, FTC filed suit against QVC inU.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for violating a2000 consent order by making claims for Lite Bites and five other products. QVC,in turn, filed a third-party complaint against the manufacturers includingNutrition 21; QVC told INSIDER thatit does not provide comment on pending litigation.
