ODS Updates IBIDS Database

BETHESDA, Md.In mid-August,the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS)launched an improved, Webaccessible version of the International BibliographicInformation on Dietary Supplements (IBIDS) database. The database contains morethan 730,000 citations on dietary supplements and is available free to thepublic. The re-launch features include a new Web site design, the addition of30,000 new records, the inclusion of images of botanicals and chemicalstructures, and improved search functions.

The IBIDS database was created through a mandate by Congressin the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) that ODS create atool to assist scientists and the public in locating credible, scientificliterature on dietary supplements. The database is available athttp://dietary-supplements.info.nih.gov/Health_Information/IBIDS.aspx.
