—The GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status of Taiyo’s partially hydrolyzed guar gum (PHGG) product Sunfiber (www.sunfiber.com) was upgraded to “general food usage”, making the product suitable for incorporation in all foods and beverages. The all-natural, soluble dietary fiber product can be added to products without affecting taste or texture and exhibits good pH stability in heat and freeze/thaw conditions.

“The expanded GRAS status of Taiyo’s Sunfiber offers an advantage for manufacturers to create foods with mass-market appeal that address consumer health concerns, such as increased fiber intake, improved digestive health, mineral absorption and a lower glycemic index,” said Scot t Smith, vice president, Taiyo International.
