After receiving his medical training at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Haupt pursued a career in pediatric pulmonary medicine. His scholarly activities focused on improving nutritional outcomes for children with cystic fibrosis via pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy. Dr. Haupt ultimately transitioned to the pharma/biotech industry where he’s continued to focus on complex inflammatory syndromes of the digestive tract. He is passionate about improving health through nutrition, personalized medicine and data.

Amy Smith 
Director of Global Regulatory Strategy, IFF Health

Dr. Smith began her journey as a microbiologist with a doctoral degree in microbiology from Louisiana State University, where she minored in virology and molecular biology. After years conducting research on microbial pathogenesis and molecular detection methods, Dr. Smith began a career at DuPont, leading business expansion within molecular diagnostics before transitioning to lead the probiotics global regulatory strategy for DuPont Nutrition & Health. In her current role, she leads global regulatory efforts for all IFF Health ingredient dietary supplement applications. She also serves as President on the executive board of directors of the International Probiotics Association (IPA). Amy’s ability to understand science, regulation, and real-world industry promotes a forward-thinking functional ingredient platform for the success of IFF Health, all at the current pace of immense industry growth.
