ORLANDO, Fla.Nutraceutical company XYMOGEN recalled its joint health supplement artriphen due to undeclared allergens discovered within the product.

XYMOGEN learned artriphen  might contain traces of the allergens milk and soy, so the company immediately discontinued sales and had a third-party laboratory test the product to confirm the presence of allergens.

No allergic reactions have been reported thus far, but consumers are encouraged to return the product for a full refund.

The company discovered that allergens were not included in the product's labeling while preparing to buy artriphen in bulk and package it for the first time at XYMOGEN's new facility. Sara Brady, XYMOGEN spokesperson, said the company has been proactive in regard to the discovery.

"The team detected the issue and immediately took all the proper steps to make sure labeling was corrected, the FDA notified and the recall process implemented," Brady said.

Only about 5,500 products are still circulating to date, according to Brady, and all physicians were immediately notified to pull the product.

She added, "If it wasn't for the XYMOGEN team, this issue could have gone undiscovered, but they were very vigilant about following up on this."

Earlier this month, American Lifestyle voluntarily recalled "sexual performance" capsules after an FDA analysis found undeclared drugs in the product.
