ARVADA, Colo.—Salvage grocers, whose prices often are approximately half of traditional grocery stores, are thriving in an economy that has consumers looking outside the box for the best food deals. According to an Associated Press article, bargain hunters are bypassing traditional grocers and big-box retailers to take advantage of deep discounts on food products that are dented, crushed or past their sell-by dates.
