COPENHAGEN, DenmarkDuPont Nutrition & Health announced it's expanding its microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) offering through an agreement with Taiwan-based manufacturer, Mingtai, to facilitate increased product availability in order to meet market needs and growing consumer demand.

The agreement includes development, production, distribution, marketing and sale of the hydrocolloid to the global food industries.

"MCC is one of the fastest growing hydrocolloids and this expansion allows DuPont to continue growing with our customers. The new product line in Taiwan includes state-of-art technology," said Jean-Baptiste Dufeu, cellulosics business manager for DuPont Nutrition & Health. The company will continue to serve its customers with high-quality products sold under the GRINDSTED® trademark, part of the DuPont Danisco® ingredient portfolio.

MCC meets the market need for the development of more ready-to-serve, health specialties, backed by consumers' need for nutritional value and convenience, with its natural wood pulp origin and capacity to substitute fat in most food products.

The hydrocolloid also provides a fat-like mouthfeel and replaces fat in many emulsified products like mayonnaise, creamy dressings, processed cheese, desserts and culinary specialties. Further, MCC is one of the best hydrocolloids for the suspension of particles in chocolate and diluted milk as well as nutritional drinks.
