PHILADELPHIAFMC BioPolymer announced a price increase of up to 15 percent on its carrageenan and microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) based products, effective November 29, 2010.
The company says global demand for specialty pulps used in the production of MCC-based products combined with low pulp inventories have resulted in continued raw material price increases. Prices for seaweeds used in the production of carrageenan continue to rise as demand outpaces supply.
