Food, Beverage Companies Among Americas Most Admired Companies
While tech giants Apple, Amazon and Google took the top three spots, respectively, on Fortune magazine’s 2014 list of “America’s Most Admired Companies," six food and beverage companies were represented in the top 50.

NEW YORK—While tech giants Apple, Amazon and Google took the top three spots, respectively, on Fortune magazine’s 2014 list of “America’s Most Admired Companies," six food and beverage companies were represented in the top 50.
In the overall rankings, Starbucks was ranked No. 5, Coca-Cola (No. 6), McDonald’s (No. 22), Nestlé (No. 31), Unilever (No. 37) and Pepsi (No. 42).
Candidates for the list include FORTUNE 1000, Global 500 companies and other major non-U.S. companies broken down into 57 industry groupings. Approximately 15,000 survey respondents were asked to rank the world’s largest companies within nine industry categories ranging from quality of management to innovation to investment value.
The Top 5 companies in their respective categories include:
Beverages—Coca-Cola (No. 1), Anheuser-Busch-InBev (No. 2), Diageo (No. 3), SAB Miller (No. 4) and Coca-Cola Enterprises (No. 5).
Consumer Food Products—Nestlé (No. 1), Unilever (No. 2), PepsiCo (No. 3), Danone (No. 4) and General Mills (No. 5).
Food Production—Ingredion (No. 1), Wilmar International (No. 2), Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) (No. 3), Bunge (No. 4) and Andersons (No. 5).
Foodservice—Starbucks (No. 1), McDonald’s (No. 2), Chipolte Mexican Grill (No. 3), Yum Brands (No. 4) and Panera Bread (No. 5).
