HORSHOLM, DenmarkChr. Hansen announced an agreement to sell the majority of its functional blends business, as well as a production plant in Parma, Italy, to Frutarom Industries Ltd.

Frutarom also announced details of the acquisition, saying it had acquired the savory activity and assets of Chr. Hansen Italy for a cash payment of US $2.53 million.

Hansens overall strategy to continuously optimize our business portfolio and to focus on and invest in areas where we already have or can grow into leading positions. By reducing complexity, the divesture will enable us to focus even more on building a strong global platform in the meat ingredients business with dedicated focus on meat cultures and natural colors." explains Carsten Hellmann, Executive Vice President, Global Sales, Chr. According to Frutarom, the savory activity of Chr. Hansen develops, produces and markets innovative savory solutions, including flavors, seasoning compounds and functional ingredients for the food industry, with special emphasis on processed meat and convenience food applications."
