WALLA WALLA, WANutra Manufacturing, a subsidiary of GNC, is the first company in the world to use Symetix's new VeriSym SE system to verify product quality, Symetix announced this week.

Nutra has installed several systems on its continuous drying lines for softgels.

VeriSym SE is the right size and capacity for our encapsulation lines, and its cost appropriate," said Don Deegan, Senior Director Softgel Operations at Nutra, in a statement. This little vision system achieves 100 percent in-line inspection of softgels to assure product quality. Its enabled us to replace a batch process with a continuous process, which reduces product handling and increases uptime. Weve wanted this in-line inspection system for years."

The VeriSym SE system inspects as many as 200,000 softgels or tablets per hour, according to Symetix, the pharmaceutical group of Key Technology, a manufacturer of process automation systems. Symetix designed VeriSym SE for nutraceutical and regulated pharmaceutical manufacturers.
