Kefir Sales Captivate Lifeway Foods

MORTON GROVE, Ill.Sales ofkefir, a dairy beverage containing 10 probiotic strains, continue to boosthealthy results at Lifeway Foods (NASDAQ:LWAY), as fiscal 2005 revenuesincreased $3.8 million, or 23 percent, to $20.1 million. The annual sales gainswere boosted by $5.2 million in fourth quarter sales, which were up 22 percentfrom $4.3 million the year prior.

Julie Smolyansky, chief executive officer (CEO), called 2005 amilestone year for Lifeway Foods (www.lifeway.net).We started the year off bycompletely redesigning our packaging for our flagship Kefir line, which madeaward-winning product even more appealing to customers and this was evident allyear long in our sales growth and the number of new customers we were able toattract, such as Target, Wal-Mart and most recently Costco, she said, notingsales to existing customers also increased by double digits. We started 2006off by ringing the closing bell at the NASDAQ, and in the coming months we willbe updating the packaging for the rest of our product line, as well asintroducing a variety of healthy, nutritious dairy products to bolster ouralready strong product line.
