ALLENDALE, N.J.—Lonza (Lonza.com) participated in and co-sponsorsed the 21st annual Southern California Food Industry Conference (SCFIC), which took place on February 12, 2008 at Cal Poly Pomona University, Pomona, California. Bryan Rodriguez, technical marketing and scientific affairs manager for Lonza, presented the functional and physiological benefits of Lonza’s larch arabinogalactan-based prebiotic fiber, FiberAid®, as well as its compatibility for formulation into functional foods and beverages.
Rodriguez’s presentation explained the nutritional profile and various applications for FiberAid®, as well as its health and technological benefits. He brought attention to its function as a prebiotic fiber, high digestive tolerance, low viscosity, water solubility, stability at a wide range of temperatures and low pH, and its effectiveness in baking.
