OGDEN, Utah—Hartley Anderson, founder of Mineral Resources International (MRI), died on Dec. 29, 2007, surrounded by family in his Utah home; he was 77. Hartley and his wife, Gaye, founded a series of companies to harvest and sell health products from the Great Salt Lake, including Marine Minerals, MRI and Trace Minerals Research. Services will be held Jan. 3, and MRI, which is still family-owned and operated, will be closed that day in Hartley’s honor. In a statement, the Anderson family thanked its friends and business associates, and said it would continue to honor Hartley’s motto, “I never had the luxury of saying it can’t be done.”
